At the end of January we got a typical Nashville snow - a small dusting to cover the ground. Sent the kids out in their pjs and rain boots early that Saturday morning knowing it wouldn't stick around for long.
Nothing would convince Laney to join the girls (can't remember where Gabe was but obviously he wasn't at home) so she stayed put inside even with pleas that this might be our only snow of the year.
That was not to be, however as last week we were treated to even more of the white stuff. This time a total of only two inches or so but thanks to the extremely cold weather, that two inches of snow and mostly ice stuck around almost a full week. For the first time that my kids remember, there was snow to play in day after day and they spent several hours each day out enjoying it.
There was so much ice that our front yard was like an ice rink. They could slide around without even needing a hill.
And still, Laney Lou declined the invitations to go out. Despite the pleadings of "You get to wear your snow boots!" and "Look how fun it is!" She responded with "One day when it is warm, I will go out and play with you!" That's my girl!
And as much as I would love to say "Goodbye snow, see you next year." we might be getting more tonight. Hopefully this round will be more like our usual Nashville snow and less like the ice rink version.
