Beach Trip (3)

The rest of the trip...

Daddy and Grandaddy dug out a small "pool" for the littles to play in every day.  

These two spent hours talking and playing in the water's edge.  

Gabe caught lots of tiny fish and would keep them in a bucket, releasing them when it was time to go in for the evening, and  

he (left) and Nae (right) rode many waves onto the shore.  

Lots of meals where eaten on the front porch and,  

Grandmama and Grandaddy where brave enough to attempt this with us.  

That wraps up the beach pictures. Thanks for sticking it out if you made it to the end of all 3 posts. Now I'm ready to go back. Anybody interested in a little vacation trip???

Beach Trip (2)

These are the "Yes, we'll humor Mommy and take pictures on the beach in our regular clothes," pictures. I am really disappointed with the majority of them, however as there is a haze over a lot of the pictures. I think this may be due to the humidity causing my lens to fog up? Oh well, as Nae would say you get what you pay for.

I love this one, and so wish that Laney was in it.

Beach Week (1)

The week before school started, we went to Oak Island, NC with my parents to enjoy a week of beach fun. I'm going to attempt several posts this week as a kind of re-cap of that trip.

I've found that the pictures I take the very first time we see the ocean are the best of the whole trip. That pretty much held true this time as well. 

And, a couple of Eden because no one was more excited than she was.

Bookshelves...done!

So, I was reminded this week that I never got around to posting pictures of my little summer painting project. I had wanted to paint these bookshelves for a while. The middle three we bought years ago and the two on the ends we got off of Craig's list with the plan to paint all of them. I promise this isn't like one of those weight loss before photos where you make it look as bad as possible. It's just a picture I snapped (in bad light) right before I got busy painting.

I love the way it turned out and it really lightened up the room. This started out as my project but in the end Nae had sympathy on me and helped edge out the last two. He also put new trim on the end two so they would all match.

For the birthday girl,
there was a plate with her name on it to match the other girls'... 

A whole set of puppets lovingly made by a big sister...

 The favorite present, a snake skin purse filled with lots of "stuff" from her siblings...

An entire mud pie party worked on for days...  

and a huge chocolate cake for a special little girl.  

A day well celebrated!
