Our Christmas 2010

A little recap.

Christmas Eve (Bing and Lisa the Toy Story 3 characters were a big hit!)

Christmas in VA where we {thankfully} beat the snow in although we still had to get a ride from Grandaddy up to their house. Our van made it up 2 days later.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Snow is fun when you're on vacation and don't have to do anything. We've had lots of snow to enjoy while in VA thus far this week.

An assortment of things were used to go down the hill on.

Even Eden went out to test the snow. She wasn't really a fan and couldn't move with boots on.

Eden says, "You've got to be kidding me. It only took them 16 months and I finally have a real bed to sleep in!"

Thanks to Nae for getting the trim work up so we could {finally} set up Eden's crib.

Could you tell that just a few days ago Eden's stocking said "Megan" and the girl had blond hair? After this post last year, my brother-in-law did an extensive ebay search and found Eden a stocking to match the other three; only problem the blond hair and monogrammed name "Megan." Thanks to a friend, though, Eden now has a stocking that matches the other three (with the right name.)

Look, Emma, Alena decided to share her hat with Eden.
tn_IMG_8541
If you look here you can see Alena in this hat that Emma made her. She's been very possessive of it and not at all interested in passing it on even though this would be the 3rd winter she's worn it.
tn_IMG_8535
Today, however Alena chose this one and let Eden have the "pom-pom" one.

In the car today we were listening to Christmas music when "God Rest you Merry Gentlemen" came on.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy.

From the back seat, Alena hollers out, "This song is about Satan!" She was appalled, and it took me a while to figure out what she was talking about.

This girl loves to give cards and the Christmas season is the perfect opportunity for her to do so. Almost every day I hear, "Mommy, how do you spell Christmas?"

December 11 {again}

I know I already posted today for the DPP, but I took these pictures of Eden this afternoon and wanted to put them on too - so there you go 2 posts in one day.
Does she not look big in these blue jeans? Eden had just gotten up from her nap and was standing at the fridge wanting something to eat. I gave her a piece of cheese and told her to sit down and eat it. She walked over to the middle of the kitchen floor, plopped right down, and ate her cheese. And that blanket, she carries it around all the time.

Is my son the only one who is never still? Even when he is reading, he is constantly moving around, changing positions and hanging off the furniture.
For instance, he is first like this,
tn_IMG_8406
and then a few seconds later like this.
tn_IMG_8408
I don't think he even realizes that he's doing it.

I convinced Nae that we needed a fire last evening and we turned out the lights and ate supper in front of the fire with the Christmas tree lights in the corner. The kids thought it was fantastic - it's always the little things.

Cutting out snowflakes which I've never been very good at until we found this and we all had success. Nae had the great idea of drawing the pattern onto the folded paper for the kids to cut and it made things much easier.
