Just the girls

Nothing like a couple of rainy, windy, cold spring days to make you really appreciate a nice, warm day. I toted my camera along today while Gabe had piano and the girls and I explored the campus and park.

Eden is changing so much lately. I can't believe how different her face is looking. The consensus seems to be that she is favoring Gabe the most, but time will tell.

Mya really enjoyed wearing this twirly skirt that Grandmama made her. She danced around all day.

Our "Lean Bean" loves to take her shoes off any chance she gets. Notice the marker on her arm as well. I think she was trying out some war paint or something.

A happy little girl

As a fourth born, Eden is probably missing out on a lot of things. She doesn't have monogrammed clothes, she doesn't have a fancy room or really any room at all since she's still in our closet. Something she does have, however, is three siblings who love her very much and will do anything to make her laugh. In this case, Gabe and Mya were playing a "Heads or Tails" game with a quarter at the table. Eden, as you can see, thought it was very funny.

Silly Alena...

This is how I found Alena at nap time today:

sound asleep

with a bucket over her head. Just don't ask...

Two things I noticed about this picture (1) Wow! Alena really looks like Mya here in fact I thought it was Mya at first and (2) Isn't Eden looking so big?

Alena loves to hold Eden but still needs some assistance. She tends to just let go when she's done which doesn't work out so well for poor Eden.

Warrior Princess

Since we live on a cul-da-sac, it seems there is always a gang of kids in our front yard. Gabe has loved having these built-in playmates and every afternoon that the weather is nice you can guarantee there will be a knock at the door wanting to see if he can come outside. So, for the last few weeks, we have been letting Mya go out as well. Now this group of kids is almost always exclusively boys and they are most often fighting with light sabers or some other such boy game. I talked with Mya letting her know if she was going to go out and play with the boys she couldn't come in crying all the time because she got hurt or they weren't playing what she wanted. So, we've had not problems at all and she has loved being a part of this group. I have to say we've been really impressed with how kind the other boys are to her as well.

So tonight at dinner Gabe and Mya had been out playing for a couple of hours and we had them come in to eat. I was asking what they were playing out there and then Nae asked Mya if the boys were being nice to her. She replied that they were and then Nae asks Gabe if he watches out for Mya when they are outside. Gabe says, "Yes! But really I don't have to because Mya is a real good fighter. She can beat all the boys!" So there you have it; not only can she twirl around in her "twirly skirt" she can also fight off all the boys. This girl is something else!

An Easter to remember

This pretty much sums up our weekend thus far:

All of the kids have strep throat (or probable strep we're still waiting on Eden's culture to come back). On top of that, they've had a nasty virus/cold that no one seems to be able to shake. It has been a long week, but we're hopeful that everyone turned the corner today and next week will be better.

We did do a little egg dying this afternoon out on the porch, and maybe it was because they were all pretty subdued from being sick or maybe it's because they're getting older, but either way it went really well and very little mess was made. Dying eggs is not usually one of my favorite activities. (You can really tell in these pictures how bad the girls were feeling.)

Later this evening, they all found enough energy to do a little egg hunting.

Eden didn't participate in the egg dying or egg hunting but she really enjoyed this:

our pediatrician recommended a popsicle to help soothe her red/blistered throat if we could get her to eat it. Ha! If we could get her to eat it? I don't think any of us would have been brave enough to take it away - she ate that thing like a pro.
