Our Little "Alena Bena"

Sorry about all the template changes on our blog lately. I wanted something different, but it took a while for me to find just the right one :) This one is going to stay a while, however because I really do have other things I need to be doing. (I know that comes as a real surprise.)

I think each of our children have seemed to grow up a little faster, and while there is nothing about Alena that could qualify as "big" she does seem so big to us compared to that little baby we brought home from the hospital. She is a very busy little girl - crawling around and pulling up on anything and everything. Here she is today watching Gabe and Mya outside. These pictures would have been much better if we didn't have so much stuff on the porch so just try to excuse that.

My Lowe's men

We have a new Lowe's store that just opened up this week. Nae and Gabe went to check it out yesterday, and while they were there one of the employees gave Gabe one of their leftover kits from that morning's kid workshop. It was so cute with an apron, goggles, and a real little hammer. There was also a little tool box to put together. Here are Nae and Gabe assembling it last night. Gabe thought the goggles were very fun. He said he was going to save them for the swimming pool this summer. I had to explain that you used a different kind of goggles for swimming.
Here's the finished product - it turned out well. I think they'll try to make it for another project sometime.
I had to include this silly picture of Mya - it's hard to tell from the picture but she has three hair bows in. You can never have too many, I suppose.

First haircut

Alena finally had her mullet cut off yesterday and even though these aren't the best pictures, you get the general idea.

Here she is before:
And here is the after - a little bob with a few bangs. She seems pleased, anyway.

Items for sale

So, the past two days Gabe has come up with a new way to make some extra money (because he is always in need of more change) Yesterday, he set up not a lemonade stand but a water stand. For "just a few pennies" Nae and I could have a drink of water which he poured from his water bottle that he'd been drinking from most of the day. Today, he had a "yard sale " in his room, and for "just two pennies or a nickel" look what we could buy: (the sad thing is all this stuff came from his room) Here he is ringing his little bell to attract more customers. How can you turn down that cute smile?
This is what his whole little "yard sale" looked like. For seven cents I was able to purchase the lama picture (don't ask), a wallet size picture of Gabe as a baby, and a key chain - not a bad deal I suppose. I also feel that I must comment on his outfit - he's just gotten to the point where he wants to pick out his clothes every morning. Usually I'll say, "Get a pair of jeans and a shirt with a collar (if we're going out)" or something similar. Since we had no plans today, I just let him pick out whatever and he came out dressed totally in red because it must match, right? What you can't see is that he also had on red underwear. I just try to be happy that I no longer have to dress him.

Our week...

If a picture is worth a thousand words, than this should tell you a lot...Gabe, who hasn't taken a nap in probably a year lying in the floor sound asleep. The stomach flu hit our house last week and while Mya and myself didn't have it too bad and Nae and Alena escaped totally, Gabe made up for everyone by remaining sick for a few days. I hope we're all over this nasty stuff for a long time. We all know that when it rains, it pours, so although Alena didn't get the stomach stuff she does have a double ear infection. Here she is earlier in the week pulling all the way up for the first time. Look how proud she was of herself.
How cute is this? Emma made Alena this cute hat. Thanks Emmo!
We enjoyed some mild weather earlier this week and the kids were able to get lots of outside time. May I just say that these pictures were taken before they began playing in the mud. Let's just say Mya's white pants are no longer so white...

Hair and Shoes

I had to take a couple pictures of Alena's first time having to endure the Pebbles look.
and seeing these pictures made me think of Mya with her "pom-poms" Here's Mya at 7 months. What do you think - do they look alike? Here's 2 year old Mya in brother's hat and her very attractive "marching shoes." I thinks she calls them that because they make a tapping sound on the hard floor. Is she a priss or what?
